The Weary Kind Takes the Oscar Home

T-Bone Burnett & Ryan Bingham

The Oscar for original song this year was awarded to Ryan Bingham from Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses and T-Bone Burnett for their song “The Weary Kind” which was the main theme behind the low budget film “Crazy Heart“.

T-bone is an all around musical genius who’s musical work has won him ten Grammy awards as well as an Oscar nomination. His work with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on “Raising Sand” earned him a Grammy for Album of the Year and his collabration with blues legend B.B. King on B.B. King’s One Kind Favor earned him a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album. In 2004 T-Bone was given an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for the song The Scarlet Tide from the film Cold Mountain. This year’s Oscar is yet another distinguished award in a long reputable career that spans over forty years.

Ryan Bingham and The Dead Horses have been playing together as a a band since 2007 and released their first album Mescalito with little success. Their second album Roadhouse Sun was released in 2009 and featured the song The Weary Kind. The Weary Kind was well received by the listening public and was awarded the Golden Globe award for Best Original Song and no has won an Oscar for Best Original Song
