For the album cover for “Wu-Massacre,” a collaborative effort put forth by Raekwon, Ghostface Killah and Method Man, the Wutang clan is enlisting the talents of Chris Bachalo, an artist known for his work with comic
book illustrations. His work on “The Wheel,” a short story about the character Death, a creation by Neil Gaiman, was inducted into the Library of Congress in 2003. And, to further develop his notoriety, Bachalo participated as one of the main illustrators for “Amazing Spider-Man” during the Marvel comics event, “Brand New Day.”
As it turns out, Ghostface Killah and the Method Man are two of Wu-tang’s biggest comic book fans. Ghostface’s debut album, “Iron Man,” was titled after a marvel character by the same name, he sometimes goes by the name “Tony Starks,” and even managed to appear in a deleted scene from the first “Iron Man” movie. Though Method Man doesn’t have quite as much to do with the world of Marvel, he has been known to take on the name of “Johnny Blaze,” which is a reference to Ghost Rider’s most popular alter ego.
And so, it seems that Wu-tand has made sure that the cover art will match up with the heat that this dynamic trio will probably deliver when the LP drops later this year.
I can’t wait for the new Iron Man movie. Iron Man 2 is going to be awesome! The soundtrack with AC/DC is going to be great! I wonder if they will leave it open for a third Iron Man movie…
